City of Villa Rica - Wastewater Treatment Plant , Villa Rica, Georgia

The City and RMA worked together on the new 2.15 MGD wastewater treatment facility for the City of Villa Rica. As part of the design, RMA reviewed existing sewer system needs to assist in plant site location and interaction between existing facilities. The design incorporated many elements sized to expand the plant to 3.25 MGD and ultimately to 6.5 MGD. The design included a new influent raw sewage pump station, a headworks facility complete with fine screens and grit removal, an oxidation ditch complete with multi-stage selector ahead of the ditch for biological phosphorus and total nitrogen removal, secondary clarification, tertiary treatment complete with tertiary clarification and a deep bed sand filter, low pressure ultra-violet disinfection system, effluent/reuse pump station, cascade aerator, auto-thermal thermophilic aerobic digestion system, sludge dewatering facility with a relocated, existing, one meter belt filter press and a new two meter press, a plant drain pump station, various chemical storage facilities and a plant SCADA system.

RMA also participated in the funding portion of this project which relied on revenue bonds and involved the formation of a new funding agency for the City of Villa Rica, the Villa Rica Facilities Authority. RMA provided the engineering pro forma report including rate and revenue alternatives and projections. The facility was actually designed to treat 3.25 MGD with no additional equipment.
