For example, wood structures often swell with high humidity in the Southeast. It absorbs extra moisture and makes maintenance on painted structures difficult. In contrast, low humidity areas dry out the wood, which lowers moisture content and causes splits or cracks. Weather variances can also affect adhesives and finishes, which cause a glue joint to fail or bubble/discoloration the paint.
